Cristian Bedoya (he/him)

Question: What was your MYL alumni year? (If you did not attend the conference, the year that you first volunteered!)  

Cristian's Response: 2008

Question: What high school did you go to? 

Cristian's Response: Lowell Catholic High School

Question: If you went to/are currently attending college, where did/do you go and what did you major in?

Cristian's Response: Northwestern University, Computer Engineering

Question: If you are currently employed, what is your job? 

Cristian's Response: Software Engineer at Northrop Grumman Corporation

Question: Why do/did you volunteer with MYL/MassSTAR?

Cristian's Response: My time and experience in high school and college was undoubtedly made more memorable with the help of the amazing friends and mentors that I met through the organization. I continue to volunteer because I want to make sure this awesome sense of community continues to stay within the foundation.

Question: What makes the Foundation unique?

Cristian's Response: The fact that no one gets paid to be here yet we all work really hard and put in a lot of our heart out for this organization that is completely 100% volunteer driven.

Question: Are you still in touch with people from the conference? How do you stay in touch?

Cristian's Response: Not from my particular conference but definitely alumni from other conferences. I am president, so I get to talk to many amazing alumni as part of my position :)

Question: How would you describe the conference to somebody who hasn't/won't be able to experience it?

Cristian's Response: It's a weekend of being able to step away from the rest of the world, reflect about your own unique values, hone new skills, and learn from others what it means to be a true citizen (vs leader) in your community.

Question: What is your favorite activity from the MassSTAR Conference?

Cristian's Response: Walk the line - because it's an activity where everyone (including staff) learn something new every time we do it

Cristian's Response: MassSTAR Beat

Question: What is a fun fact about yourself or something on your bucket list?

Cristian's Response: I have a youtube channel and I really want to grow it to 1000 subscribers by the end of the year
