Scholarship DescriptionEach year, the Massachusetts Youth Leadership Foundation will award a $500 scholarship in honor of GFWC Randolph Jr. Woman’s Clubwoman Marta DiBenedetto. The Marta DiBenedetto Leadership Scholarship will be awarded to an alumna of the Massachusetts Youth Leadership Foundation who will be or is currently pursuing an undergraduate education at an accredited college or university in the United States. This alumna must have demonstrated leadership and active engagement within her community. The Marta DiBenedetto Leadership Scholarships are awarded annually and may be used for tuition, books or living expenses at any university, college or institution.
About Marta DiBenedettoMarta was a 21-year member of the GFWC Randolph Junior Woman’s Club, a member club of the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC). The organization is an international women’s organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. She served as the International Director of Junior Clubs from 2004 to 2006. Marta was a born leader and brought out the best in people. Although Marta passed away unexpectedly in 2007, her memory continues to inspire the community.

Deadline for Application
The deadline for the 2024 application is May 17th, 2024 at 11:59 PM.
- Be a female currently attending or enrolled at an accredited college or university in the United States. High school students may apply if they plan to be enrolled at a college or university in the school year after application is submitted.
- Be an alumna of the Massachusetts Youth Leadership Foundation
- Must not have received the scholarship in the past.
- The recipient must be present at the closing ceremony of the annual MassSTAR Citizenship Conference.
Application
- Applicants must complete the application via the Massachusetts Youth Leadership (MYL) website. Click here to access the application.
- Submit one (1) cover letter and resume; two (2) letters of recommendation; and one (1) 500 word personal essay. The essay should address the applicant’s personal goals and giving back to the community.
Review and Selection Process
- Scholarship finalists will be selected by a scholarship selection committee consisting of selected MYL Foundation board members and named GFWC Randolph Jr. Woman’s Club members. Committee members will review all applications.
- Selection will be by majority vote of selection committee.
- If applicant meets requirements, she should be prepared for an interview. Interviews may be conducted by telephone. Telephone interviews will be conducted for finalists.
- The recipient will be offered a scholarship in writing and will be asked to accept or decline this offer, also in writing, within one week of receiving notification.
- Scholarship payment will be awarded at the closing ceremonies of the annual MassSTAR Citizenship Conference.

- Leadership roles within the community
