We are now accepting applications for the MassSTAR Conference Planning Committee!
What is the MassSTAR Conference Planning Committee?
The MassSTAR Conference Planning Committee is the team of 12-16 individuals responsible for the planning and execution of the MassSTAR Citizenship Conference. In the six months leading up to the Conference, the CPC is hard at work getting everything ready for the weekend. CPC members oversee recruitment, programming, staffing, and operations -- in other words, they handle every little detail that makes the weekend possible!
What positions are open?
Glad you asked! We have positions available in the areas of Staffing, Recruitment, Programming, Fundraising, and Communications. To review a full list of position descriptions, and for more information on the requirements for each role, please click below.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much time will I spend on the CPC?
That all depends. Different positions have different busy seasons - the Recruitment Directors are busiest in the early winter, while the Staff Directors are busiest in the lead up to the Conference. You can expect to spend from 5-10 hours per week, depending on the season. In addition, you're required to check email every day and participate in monthly conference calls with the rest of the planning committee.
What skills and experience do I need to be a part of the CPC?
First and foremost, check out the position descriptions for detailed information on individual position requirements. Overall, though, the most important thing is a positive attitude and commitment to excellence. The most successful CPC volunteers are those who bring energy, enthusiasm, and inspiration to their role; basically, they carry the MassSTAR spirit with them in everything they do.
I attended the conference as a delegate but haven't volunteered on staff. Can I apply?
We're always looking for talented volunteers, so yes, please apply! However, some roles - Staff, Programming, and Operations, in particular - do require a broader knowledge of the Conference. So, if you've never served on staff, consider applying for the Recruitment or In-Kinds Director positions; these roles offer a great opportunity to learn more about the Conference while also participating in the planning process.
I really want to be a part of the CPC, but I also really love volunteering as a facilitator! Can I do both?
The members of the Conference Planning Committee volunteer on behalf of the delegates and the volunteer staff. As a member of the CPC, you will be a part of the behind-the-scenes operation of the event. As such, members of the CPC are not able to volunteers as facilitators.
